This museum was officially opened on November 6, 1976, by Alton. R. Lowe, a native of Green Turtle Cay, to preserve the unique history and development of Abaco. It is named after Alton's father, a famous woodcarver of ship models, and features displays of model ships, paintings, writings, and numerous other artifacts.

The museum is housed in a restored Victorian-era family home, which is over 100 years old. Touted as the Bahamas' oldest historical museum, it offers a literal walk through Abaconian history, with particular emphasis on its Loyalist heritage.

You can get there by taking the ferry to Green Turtle Cay from Treasure Cay on the mainland, followed by a short drive.
