The many tidal flats, creeks, channels, and mangroves scattered all across the island offer the challenges and rewards of sight-fishing for bonefish.

Many tropical fish surround the reefs off the coast of Acklins and Crooked Island. The Stoplight Parrotfish and Queen Parrotfish are common in these waters.

Romane Moss' areas of expertise are in water and land tours His experience is based on the many years of traveling and fishing off the coast of Acklins, Crooked Island, and Long Cay. He loves the outdoors and the opportunity to share the treasures of his homeland with both young and old. The tours are designed and tailored for beginners as well as experienced birder watchers, nature lovers, and beach lovers. The tours also have a “touch” of Bahamian culture and heritage for the history buffs.

Types of Experiences and Trips Provided

Tour in a vehicle, hike on foot trails, or sail the mangrove, harbours, or creeks to see a different side of Acklins, Crooked Island, and Long Cay on an Eco-Friendly Tour. The rich biodiversity of these islands and the neighboring cays offer caves where the Lucayan Indian tribes lived, mangroves, and private cays. In addition, rare Bahamian animals, wild birds, and exotic plant life reside within Acklins, Crooked Island, and Long Cay.

Bird Watching Tours

On this tour, you will explore environments deep into the “bush,” as well as creeks and other wetlands. Acklins, Crooked Island, and Long Cay together have over 168 species of migrating and residential birds, including Whistling Ducks, the Bahamas Woodstar Hummingbird, Eurasian Collared Doves, Common Ground Doves, Ospreys, and our celebrity flocks of Flamingos.

Cave Tours

Our tours visit the bat and limestone caves at Atwood Harbour and Jumbey Hole, and Underground World on Acklins, in addition to those on Crooked Island. Many of the caves have majestic limestone formations that take on unusual forms and shapes.

Historical / Cultural Tours

This tour takes you by car to the local historical sites on Acklins, Crooked Island, and Long Cay.

Iguana Tour

This tour takes you by boat to a private cay off the coast of Lovey Bay, Acklins. There are a few outlying cays on which you can find the endangered 'Acklins Ground Iguana'.

Long Cay Tour

Our Eco-tour explores Long Cay, home to wild goats in the brush and ruins, and flamingos feeding on the south shore. Included is this tour is one of the first jails in The Bahamas…Long Cay Jail. The tour also includes touring the St. David and St. Augustine's Anglican Church (circa 1795), one of the first Anglican churches in The Bahamas.

Snorkeling / Coral Reef Tours

Enjoy a half or full-day of snorkeling on the reefs off Lovely Bay, Acklins, or Long Cay. You can see lobsters in the coral reefs, passive stingrays, nurse sharks, and numerous tropical fish.

Recommended Equipment to Bring

  • For Water Tours: snorkel gear (mask, snorkel, and fins), bathing suits, waterproof beach shoes, beach towels, underwater camera, sunscreen, and insect repellent. A limited supply of snorkel gear is available.
  • For Land Tours: sunscreen, camera, binoculars, cap or wide brim hat, appropriate clothing, and insect repellent.
Costs and Fees

All tours start at $150.00. Costs can change depending on the length of tour(s), specials offered, and any extenuating requests (e.g. prepared lunches, equipment rental, etc.).
