Blackwood Point

1 Thumbs Up! Give your thumbs up.

If you are a nature lover, you will want to explore Black Wood Point, located on the northeastern tip of upper Pirate's Well. It is one of the natural habitats for Flamingos, National Bird of The Bahamas, and a variety of other bird species. It is also a breeding ground for conch and most of the indigenous fish.

Primary Species Commonly Experienced Here

Flamingos are the birds seen here most often, splashing in pools within the rocks and the adjoining bay, or flying overhead.

Best Times and Seasons for Viewing

It is best to go between sunrise and sunset, because daylight makes the journey easier. You're likely to see some birds whenever you visit.

Access Considerations and Directions

Access to Blackwood Point is via the Upper Bay of Pirate's Well. You can walk along the beach, but the sharp rocks near the point could make it difficult for most people. The best access is by boat on the water.
