Kaye's serves home-cooked Bahamian dishes in a rustic island-style setting, where you will get sand in your shoes. Breakfast is by request and they offer personalized meals, plus healthy options like vegetarian chowders and casseroles. One of their specialties for dessert is jelly coconut with a sweet sauce.

You're likely to meet a number of locals and visiting boaters there, who also hang out daily under the big almond tree just outside. It is a great place to sip a brew and catch up on what's happening around town. There is an old surfboard hanging from the tree inscribed by a past visitor, "A rich man's dream and a poor man's paradise," which sums up what the island means to those who know it.

Golden oldies music will entertain you daily, and you can dance at Happy Hour on Saturday nights, compete in one of the frequent Domino and pool tournaments, or the Crab-eating Contest during crab season (which coincides with the rainy season). Movie nights are on Sundays and Mondays.

Hours Open: 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Daily

Seasons Open: Year Round

Accessibility Notes: There is easy access for persons with mobillity impairments or those in wheelchairs.

 Eco-Friendly Notes

Meals and desserts are prepared using locally grown fruits and vegetables. You won't usually get the same things every time you visit, because their menu depends on what is in season.

 Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes

This business has been in operation since 1974 and is owned by Kaye Wilson. She is the daughter of family matriarch, the late Delores Wilson, who originally co-owned it with her.

Delores entertained numerous visitors at the bar over the years (including Jackie Onassis, Peter Benchley, and Jimmy Buffett), and enjoyed sitting down and talking to persons about her life and love of her hometown. Delores even wrote a book called, "Rum Cay My Home," detailing life on Rum Cay and her childhood.
