Lake Rosa, also known as Lake Windsor, is a huge 12-mile (19 km) long hyper saline interior wetland that occupies nearly 1/4 of the 184,000-acre Inagua National Park. It is the largest salt water lake in The Bahamas. It is also home to more bird life than anywhere in the Bahamas and is known as an Important Bird Area (IBA).

There is a vibrant flamingo population at the lake, and in the surrounds are large numbers of other birds, like the native Bahama Parrot, the endemic Bahama woodstar hummingbird, Bahama pintails, Brown pelicans, Tri-colored herons, Snowy egrets, Reddish egrets, Stripe-headed tanangers, Cormorants, Roseate spoonbills, and American kestrels.

Recreational Opportunities

Escorted tours to the lake are with an approved guide only. Permission from the Bahamas National Trust is required in advance. Ideal for birding and wildlife encounters and photo opportunities.
