Located at the northernmost end of Abaco, the Little Abaco IBA supports an extensive tract of virgin Caribbean pine Pinus caribaea forest.

This IBA contains five settlements: Crown Haven (at the westernmost tip), Fox Town, Wood Cay, Mount Hope, and Cedar Harbour.

Primary Species Commonly Experienced Here

Little Abaco supports some of The Bahamas' EBA restricted-range birds, including the Bahama Woodstar Calliphlox evelynae, Thick-billed Vireo Vireo crassirostris, Olive-capped Warbler Dendroica pityophila, and Bahama Yellowthroat Geothlypis rostrata. This IBA also supports a large population of the Near Threatened White-crowned Pigeon Patagioenas leucocephala.

It is possible for this area to be the first landfall for many Neotropical migrants in the fall.

Best Times and Seasons for Viewing

The best season for viewing Neotropical migrants within this area is during the fall season. Near Threatened White-crowned Pigeon can be seen year round.

The best time for viewing these species would be from sun up to sun down.
