Peterson Cay is located offshore on the south side of Grand Bahama Island. The Cay contains a mixture of rocky shoreline, sandy beach, and shrubland. 

Peterson Cay is the smallest National Park within The Bahamas. It is uninhabited but it is actively used for ecotourism recreational activities by local tour guides and residents.

Primary Species Commonly Experienced Here

According to the Important Birds of the Caribbean published in 2009, this IBA supports a nesting colony of Bridled Terns, with 160 pairs found in 2005.

Best Times and Seasons for Viewing

The best time to view these birds is during the morning or late afternoon hours of summer months.

Access Considerations and Directions

This cay is only accessible by boat from Grand Bahama Island.
