This IBA comprises portions of protected and unprotected land mass, including 40% of the protected land mass known as the Abaco National Park.

The habitat of this IBA is comprised of undeveloped Caribbean Pine Pinus caribea, black land coppice, coast, and wetland.

Primary Species Commonly Experienced Here

Species commonly found in this IBA include the Near Threatened Cuban Amazon (“Bahama Parrot”) Amazona leucocephala, Bahama Woodstar Calliphlox evelynae, Bahama Mockingbird Mimus gundlachii, Olive-capped Warbler Dendroica pityophila, and the Bahama Yellowthroat Geothlypis rostrata.

A regionally significant population of White-tailed Tropicbird Phaethon lepturus breeds at Hole-in-the-Wall.

Best Times and Seasons for Viewing

The bird species can be found within this area year round, and species may be seen throughout the day.  However, there is a higher concentration of species, especially the Bahama Parrot, during the morning and late afternoon hours.

Access Considerations and Directions

This IBA can be accessed by vehicular transportation. Persons with mobility impairments should have no difficulty moving around within the settlements.
