The Current is a small village that got its name from the tide that boils through the cut that separates it from Current Island. It is believed to be one of the oldest settlements on the island and that Captain William Sayle brought some settlers here on his way to discovering Cupid's Cay.
It is the birthplace of The Bahamas' first Prime Minister, Sir Roland "Pop" Symonette, and is now home to Eddie Minnis, a world-renown Bahamian artist.
