West End Eco-Fishing Camp Association (WEEFCA) is a youth oriented community based organization dedicated to the promotion of sustainable use and conservation best practices of marine and coastal resources in West Grand Bahama Island. The WEEFCA program started in 2009 and continues today with specific programs geared toward eco-tourism and pathways to careers as eco-guides, and is the logical step of our next phase of training and education on sustainable jobs for the young residents within the community.

WEEFCA is optimistic that through our various programs, activities and the continued support and involvement of the community, we will succeed in implementing a number of green initiatives in the weeks and months ahead.

WEEFCA has made great strides towards becoming a prominent conservation organization in West Grand Bahama Island and a key supporter in the conservation field, at a time when many threats face the environment.

Through the generous support of businesses and individuals throughout the island, we have offered a curriculum of marine life, swimming, boating, fishing, and environmental conservation. Our educational programs were taught to more than 230 children that have graduated from the camp to date.

In 2013, WEEFCA was selected by the Bahamas Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture as the leading organization on Grand Bahama Island. We have been successful in implementing hands-on learning in the areas of plant and fish identification, swimming and hand-line fishing lessons, solar and wind power, sailing, field trips to national parks, and partnering with community improvement projects along the coastal shoreline with the construction of four ecology focused mini-sea parks.

How to Support

Your donations to support the educational programs will benefit our youth Eco-experience and provide fishing and Eco-guide training programs for youths 8-18 years of age.
